Prema Powerteam’s Luca Ghiotto recorded his fifth victory?Formula Renault 2.0 Alps in race two of the finale at Imola.

The race got underway in slightly humid conditions, which immediately resulted in incidents. As such, the running didn’t remain green for long and, on lap two, Partic Armand and Dzhon Simonyan exited the race, bringing out the safety car.

Series champion Antonio Fuoco got bogged down on the subsequent restart and was overtaken for second place by Matt Parry and Bruno Bonifacio, while Ghiotto remained comfortably in the lead. The leading group ran rather close for several laps and, on lap eight, the pack was broken up when Parry and Bonifacio collided, with the Brazilian going wide and into the barrier.

As Ghiotto cruised to the finish in first, it was Parry who crossed the line in second place. However, he was later penalized for the Bonifacio incident with 25 seconds added to his time. As such, Fuoco inherited second, while Egor Orudzhev completed the podium.

Jakub Dalewski took fourth, with Kevin Jorg in fifth and Parth Ghorpade in sixth. Denis Korneev recorded his best finish in the series with seventh, ahead of compatriot Konstantin Tereshchenko. Hans Villemi recovered to ninth after an early incident, with Gregor Ramsay rounding out the points.

?The only challenging moments were the start, because the track was still damp in some places, and the restart. Then there were no more problems”, Ghiotto confidently stated after the race.
