Formula Ford Denmark graduate Mathias Kristensen has been unveiled as JD Motorsport’s third signing for the upcoming Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 campaign.

Kristensen, 16, joins Russian driver Matevos Isaakyan and Thiago Vivacqua of Brazil in the lineup that marks JD’s return to the championship after an eight-year absence.

The Dane finished third in the national Formula Ford series in his first year in cars, claiming two wins and 12 added podiums.

He went on to compete in the off-season’s top open-wheel junior single-seater championship Toyota Racing Series, lining up with M2 Competition. Classified in all 16 races, the rookie finished the five-week season in 12th.

We?re glad to bring Mathias for his european championship debut, especially considering the high competitive level and the prestige of Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup,” said team boss Roberto Cavallari. “After an intense winter test program, our target is now to help Mathias acquire the necessary experience that will allow him to display his full potential.
