Brazilian youngster Pietro Fittipaldi won his fourth race in a row in the Protyre Formula Renault championship as he converted a front row start in race one at Brands Hatch into a victory.

Fittipaldi overtook polesitter Matteo Ferrer over the course of the opening lap and was in the lead when the safety car came out immediately afterwards for a crash involving Colin Noble and Piers Hickin.

The Brazilian kept first at the restart and stayed at a second and a half ahead of Ferrer for most of the race, eventually taking the checkered flag after 27 laps.

Ferrer withstood pressure from Fortec’s Alex Gill to complete an MGR 1-2, while the young Brit claimed his fifth podium of the year in third.

Tarun Reddy picked up fourth place, while Cliff Dempsey Racing’s Patrick Dussault kept teammate TJ Fischer at bay for fifth.

Dimitris Papanastasiou led Hayden Edmonds in seventh, while Jack Butel rounded out the field a lap down.
