British driver Emil Bernstorff converted his pole position start into a race victory in the first outing of the German F3 round at Nurburgring.

Bernstorff, having managed a good getaway from the grid, spent most of the race in defensive mode, as championship leader Marvin Kirchhofer was putting pressure on the Briton for the race lead. Eventually, Kirchhofer got very close, but simply did not have enough time to attempt a proper attack, allowing Bernstorff to secure his fifth victory of the German F3 season.

Artem Markelov drove a rather lonely race to complete a Lotus 1-2-3 – the team’s ninth podium lockout this year. Gustavo Menezes was fourth, ahead of the Performance Racing duo, with John Bryant-Meisner leading Thomas Jager.

Matteo Cairoli recovered from an early spin to finish seventh, ahead of Trophy winner Thomas Amweg, who narrowly beat Sebastian Balthasar to claim his first class victory in German F3. Nabil Jeffri recovered to tenth after losing the car into the gravel midway through the race.
