Championship leader Alessio Rovera continued to display his dominance over Formula Abarth in the championship’s third round at Mugello, claiming a lights-to-flag victory in race one of the weekend.

Rovera left no chances for the opposition, beating his nearest rival and teammate Giorgio Roda to the finish by 11 seconds. Roda himself started the race from third, but got ahead of front row starter Dario Orsini early on to finish second on his Abarth return.

After Orsini retired from a driver error, it was Michele Beretta who picked up the final podium position, fighting back from a grid penalty and a bad start to the race. Another series returnee, Kevin Gilardoni, completed the top four.

Lukas Moraes took fifth, narrowly holding off a charging Simone Iaquinta, who was forced to start from the back after an issue in qualifying and fouth his way up to sixth, securing reverse-grid pole for race two.

Out of the National class runners, Sergey Trofimov achieved the best result, finishing seventh.
