Luca Ghiotto picked up his second Formula Renault 2.0 Alps win of 2013 at Monza, making the most out of a turn one collision between two of his main rivals.

Egor Orudzhev started the race on pole with Prema’s Antonio Fuoco alongside him, but, whilst the Italian got a better launch off the grid, he was taken out by teammate Bruno Bonifacio into turn one, bringing out a safety car. The Brazilian retired on the spot while Fuoco found himself all the way down in 17th.

After the restart, Orduzhev found himself under pressure from Ghiotto, eventually letting the Italian through into the lead. From that point on, it was smooth sailing for Ghiotto, the Prema driver picking up the eighth win for the team in just as many races of the series. Orudzhev finished second, but a post-race penalty of 25 seconds for not complying to safety car procedures meant the Russian was off the podium and out of the points.

The ARTA duo of Joffrey De Narda and Simon Tirman, thus, both took their maiden podium finishes, with De Narda narrowly holding off his teammate for what would eventually end up being second place.

Polish driver Kuba Dalewski finished fourth, but received an added time penalty of ten seconds for disrespecting track limits, which dropped him to tenth is the post-race classification. Thus, Hans Villemi inherited fourth with Gregor Ramsay completing the top five.

Fuoco managed a stellar recovery effort to finish sixth, ahead of Kevin Gilardoni and Francisco Mora, who achieved his best finish of the season. Andrew Tang took ninth in the classification.

In the standings, Fuoco leads the series with 141 points. Bonifacio remains in second with 113, with Ghiotto four points behind.
