Rio Haryanto edged out Caterham team-mate Alexander Rossi to top the morning session on day two of GP2 testing in Bahrain.
The Indonesian driver set a time of 1m39.129s, just 44 thousandths of a second quicker than Rossi.
Julian Leal was third for Carlin ahead of Racing Engineering’s Raffaele Marciello. Jolyon Palmer was fifth for DAMS ahead of Russian Time recruit Mitch Evans.
Stoffel Vandoorne took P7 for ART Grand Prix ahead of the second DAMS car of Stephane Richelmi, with the top ten completed by Arden’s Rene Binder and Campos driver Kimiya Sato.
